Thankfully, golf technology today is advancing at a considerably fast rate – and golf bags are no exception. Obviously, it isn't a concern for professionals as their bags are carried by a personal caddie, but if you are playing on your own it may be a problem and is often not recommended for golfers playing unaccompanied. Despite this, if the Tour bag is the right bag for you, consider pairing it with a push/pull or electric trolley, or even a golf buggy.
However, don't let the weight put you off completely. Even though they may weigh a lot, the bag more than makes up for it through its use of high quality materials, masses of storage space and style, so no wonder it's a hit with the pros!
2. Cart bags
Cart bags, also known as trolley bags, are specifically designed to be carried on a golf buggy or trolley, whether it be a push/pull cart or electric.
Cart bags are quite distinct, as they include a rubber or non-slip base that will keep the bag from sliding off the cart when moving. So,if you prefer to walk around the course and carry your golf bag, this option may not be best for you; it may be worth considering stand bags instead.
This golf bag is noticeably lighter and smaller than tour bags,at around six to 7 pounds, to allow easy mobility when placed on the trolley. Just like the tour bag, the cart bag also offers pockets – although on a smaller scale – for carrying waterproofs, valuables and balls, which are often situated on one side of the bag to offer easy access when positioned on a trolley.
3. Stand bags

They are very slimline in design, which makes this bag type easy to store in a locker or car. Therefore, it's the perfect bag for a game of golf on a warm, dry day as they are incredibly lightweight and easy to transport from hole to hole. However, beware if there are showers forecasted, as they offer very little protection in rain.
5. Waterproof bags
Golfers are all too aware of how unpredictable Great British weather is can be. With the industry going from strength-to-strength, it maybe time to consider adding a waterproof golf bag to your collection, for those iffy weather days when you want to get onto the course.
Waterproof golf bags often tend to be lighter in weight than most ordinary golf bags, due to advancements in technology. Therefore, the use of innovative materials can mean more vibrant colours can be used – great if you're looking to be more stylish on the course.

Typical features include a padded top to protect clubs in transit, padded or reinforced handles for easier handling, and at least one extra external pocket for additional storage.
There are two types of travel bags: hard cased or soft cased.The hard case is solid on the outside and heavier than other travel bags you will find but will offer great protection. The soft travel bag will be padded and still offer great protection, but in a lightweight alternative.

To help you choose, when deciding between a hard or soft case travel bag, you must decide the bag's purpose. The hard bag is extremely rigid and will not fit easily into the back of many cars, but they are great for the less-than-gentle airline baggage handlers. The soft case is more suited towards storage and will be more 'hire-car friendly' than a hard case. It is also worth having a travel bag that has wheels, to make it easier to cart around an airport or hotel.
